Dr. Rao is a seasoned business executive and technologist who brings business perspectives and technology insights from four decades of professional experiences spanning at global corporations such as AT&T Bell Labs, Bellcore, US West, Network Programs, Fujitsu, and Hitachi Data Systems. He is a well-known speaker and author of several publications along with five granted patents.
He published a book "Designing a New Class of Distributed Systems" in 2011 and presented a paper on a new computing model in the Turing centenary conference in 2012. He is a pioneer in the creation of self-managing applications.
Dr. Rao received his PhD from University of California, San Diego in 1972 working under the guidance of prof. Walter Kohn (Nobel Laureate 1998).
He later worked as a research associate at the University of Paris, Orsay, Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York and Columbia University, New York. He also lived and worked in Japan as the General Manager of Network Programs and has an MS degree in Japanese Management from Japan American Institute of Management Science and Sophia University.
